Visual Arts Program

Genesis 1:1 states, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

The very first verse of the Bible.  God chose to introduce himself as the creator and an artist very quickly demonstrating the importance of creativity to him and his creation. At Trinity Christian Academy, students are given the opportunity to relate to God their creator through visual art classes.  Participating in critiques and artwork discussions, students learn more about their art, themselves, and who God has made them to be.

The goal of the Visual Arts program at Trinity is to recognize God as the great artist and use what He has made to inspire student creativity. As students use their artistic abilities, they are able to learn more about themselves as well as learn more about the God who created them.   The visual arts program is available for students 6th through 12th grade. The seven Elements of Art (color, line, shape, form, texture, value, and space) are used as a foundational block to build an understanding of God’s order in creation.  Through the program, the lineage of art movements from past to present are covered.  In high school, previous knowledge from middle school art is pushed further with the addition of expanding material usage and concepts. Historical artists that made a major impact during their time period are discussed as well as artists that are living and successful in the art world today.

Sixth through eighth grade students can choose art as an elective and will take the class for a semester.  Ninth through twelfth graders can choose art for their required art credit and then if they choose to continue in the art program, they may do so by advancing to more intensive classes. High school classes are taken for the full school year.
